University Council
The University Council exercises legislative power on matters
of general educational policy and, consistent with policies of the Board
of Regents, makes rules and regulations promoting the educational interests of the University. Recommendations made by any school or college regarding the establishment, major modification, or discontinuance of any degree or program must be approved by the Council before being submitted to the president for transmission to the chancellor and the Board of Regents for approval.
The Council also is authorized to exercise legislative power
on matters dealing with the general welfare of the entire University
and, consistent with policies of the Board of Regents, to make
rules and regulations promoting the general welfare of the University.

Members are elected by and from classified personnel and other
regular non-faculty status employees.

Student Council
The GSA meets four times a semester to discuss important issues
and ideas. Representatives serve as conduits of information
to and from the students in their respective departments.

From the Abeneefoo Kuo Honor Society to Zeta Phi Beta, UGA students
can participate in more than 500 clubs.
International
student organizations
There are more than 500 student organizations at UGA and just
over 20 of those are classified as international or cultural
clubs advised through the ISL office.
